Early Roots

I was raised on a small farm in Eastern North Carolina, where hard work wasn’t an idea-it was a daily practice. On the farm, you learn early that things break, conditions change, and progress depends on your willingness to figure things out. You don’t wait for perfect circumstances. You adapt, learn, and improve.

One of my greatest influences was my mother. She was deeply grounded in faith, exceptionally intelligent, and a lifelong learner. While I didn’t have nearly enough time with her, what she gave me mattered far more than how long she was here. She instilled a belief that learning never stops, that curiosity is a strength, and that character is built through both discipline and compassion.

Those lessons shaped how I see the world. I learned that challenges don’t define you-but how you respond to them does. That growth requires asking better questions. And that there is always a better way forward if you’re willing to stay humble, stay curious, and keep learning.

From early work on the farm to building businesses across different industries, those beliefs have stayed constant: improvement is always possible, complacency is a choice, and real progress happens when you’re willing to step outside your comfort zone and do the work.
